"May Christmas Bring You Happiness" and "At Christmas Time" by the band LUTHER debuted on the 1976 compilation album "Funky Christmas", released by Cotillion Records in November 1976, and a single containing both songs was also released. The first album by the band LUTHER (LUTHER VANDROSS), called "Luther", was recorded in 1975 and 1976 and released in June 1976. Four guitarists played on this first album (JEFF MIRONOV, JERRY FRIEDMAN, LANCE QUINN and CARLOS ALOMAR). LUTHER's second album, "This Close To You", was recorded in 1976 and 1977 and released in March 1977. Three guitarists played on this second and final LUTHER album (NILE RODGERS, JEFF MIRONOV and CORNELL DUPREE), with NILE RODGERS being the only guitarist to play on all the songs. In November 1976 (four months before the release of "This Close To You"), the compilation album "Funky Christmas" was released, featuring LUTHER's songs "May Christmas Bring You Happiness" and "At Christmas Time". Based on details from the recording sessions of both LUTHER albums, it's very possible that NILE RODGERS played guitar on these fabulous Christmas songs by LUTHER and their incredible leader vocal, LUTHER VANDROSS. In both songs I think the guitar playing is 100% NILE RODGERS' style, that's my opinion about the participation of the genius NILE RODGERS in these fabulous songs.
