Hey guys,
I just got an e-mail from Norma Jean & Luci and they wanted to put the word out that they should NOT! be called "The First Ladies of CHIC" or "Ladies of CHIC" as the "Sébastien" TV-show did. Instead they should be called "Norma Jean Wright & Luci Martin - (Former Lead Vocalists of CHIC)". :)

I presume that it's because of the jury's decision between them and Nile . We won't do this mistake again
This act was so sad for CHIC's fans...

I wonder why (tadida di da ) Norma Jean and Luci have the legal right to sing in playback on the original recording of "Le freak" ?

In my mind it is just a question of law, in my heart as the original singers (but not Norma...) they have this right.

Even Nile Rodgers never used the orginal recording ....

No misstake, we simply didn't have the info on how to title them.

I guess it's because of the lawsuit, but it's better to go with their wishes, so we can lay this matter to rest. Even if it upset us all to have our heroes fight we must go forward.

Of course my fondest dream would be if Nile produced Norma Jean's and Luci's forthcoming album, but I realize that would never happen.

I don't think (?) anyone's objecting to them singing "Le Freak" after all if 100's of bands can cover it why wouldn't people who was in CHIC be allowed to perform it.

I agree with pocat and I understand frenchic ( it becomes hard to explain how two bands can perform the same song on shows)
Luci and Norma can naturally sing it because they were involved into CHIC from the beginning. I don't think that justice could prevent it but they got to give Nile some money, everytime ?

But they don't sing a cover, they sing on the ORIGINAL "Le Freak" with the original musicians and singers only with their today's voice added.
And don't forget Norma was not on the recording sessions.
It seems to be not completely honnest.
It will not be the same if it was a cover.
Even when Nile was in guest on a cover of "Le Freak " as with Wackside, he recorded his guitar !
I can undertstand Nile's position when he listen to Luci and Norma singing on the original "Le freak" with HIS guitar and without his agreement.
It is not the same as a sample of "Le Freak"
He could do the same on the original "Le freak" plus Sylver and Jessica on vocals and without the New CHIC musicians, but he don't do that.
I even think and even read on a Warner website Nile had no really rights on the original recordings and that they owned to Bernard...
Don't forget Bernard was President of the CHIC Organization and Nile "only" Vice-President...

But never mind, I love New CHIC with Sylver and Jessica and I love too Luci and Norma : they all continue to make CHIC magic a reallity and not only a memory
