THE REASON WHY NILE RODGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST PRODUCER OF SINATRA IN THE WORLD IS THE SINATRA-STUFF ON CHIC,C´EST CHIC, RISQUE, REAL PEOPLE, THE LAND OF THE GOOD GROOVE, AND OTHERS.
(THE SILENT NUMBERS
LIKE SAO PAULO AND SAVOIR FAIRE AND OTHERS)
IT IS MORE SINATRA THAN SINATRA.
IT WAS ALSO UPDATED SINATRA,
AND SINATRA HAS SEEN THAT.
INSTEAD IT BECAME U2-BONO THAT HE CAME TO COOPERATE WITH,
AND THAT WAS NOT NILE RODGERS AT ALL.

I think Chic should have chosen to cooperate with Lime instead of David Bowie, because in that cooperation you would have had 2 monstertalents: Chic + Lime, and this album would have been so interesting for the whole dance-community.
In the Lets dance LP you got one monstertalent.

Chic: My feet keep dancing
Lime: On the grid
Johnnick. Play the world

No doubt for me CHIC would have made his choice with David Bowie more than a second hand disco band as LIMEGeorge V wrote:I think Chic should have chosen to cooperate with Lime instead of David Bowie, because in that cooperation you would have had 2 monstertalents: Chic + Lime, and this album would have been so interesting for the whole dance-community.

I appreciate the work of LIME but it's absolutely not the same level than CHIC, now considered as one of the most important band of the 70'S and 80'S, and even sampled many times a year nowaday.
CHIC always claimed they were not a "disco" band but au pop soul funk rock band, and it's the truth. Dance music was the only way for CHIC to be known. When they were famous Bernard and Nile had the opportunity to look for more rock pop music, unfortunatly for CHIC.

I know what you mean
and I normally say the same
but there is an important difference between second hand disco and 80´s disco, which was an original style in itself with LIME, TIME BANDITS, Patrick Cowley and many others who were not copying
"On the grid" is in the seldom simplexdisco-categoryfrenchic wrote: I appreciate the work of LIME but it's absolutely not the same level than CHIC
and matches "my feet keep dancing", which was the first one-tone-discohit in the world.
LIME is not understood by people from the earlier disco-daze, but it is equally original and also intence.
I explain to 80´s disco-fans that Chic trumps everything, and that is equally difficult!!

but WE who were extreeeme CHIC-fans IN the period 1977-1985 are the ones that count. All the ones who found out later, that Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers had been a serious powerstation of the firstwawe-disco are o.k. also, but it is not the same...
Yes, I heard especially Bernard Edwards say that, but also Nile Rodgers did I hear in 1982 say that he prefered jazz-music over disco-music.frenchic wrote: CHIC always claimed they were not a "disco" band but au pop soul funk rock band

I know what you mean,
and I have studdied that aspect of their career very much.

I joined the fan-club
DISCO later became a difficult area because of all the second hand disco bands.
the many Chic-immitators on the dance-charts around 2000 were not first hand...
I know that Nile and Sister Sledge didn´t mind
because of the extra business with copyrights and also the extra attention to their music in general, but all these 20-years-delays were a witness to us from back then that CHIC HAD ACTUALLY BEEN THE BEST, and now everybody were finding out.
But all these delay-sounds were not music-art like CHIC and LIME.

It was extremely interesting for me to learn.
I have been a guest at ca. 375-400 different 5-star hotels,
and I have so often been sitting in the lobby or bar and listening to Frank Sinatra, because Frank Sinatra is played very much in the 5-star hotels,
And i have always been thinking:
yes, Frank Sinatra goes very well with 5-star lobbies and 5-star bars and the whole 5-star hotel-environment, BUT I know one artist who could take this 5-star music higher, and who has already done this: Nile Rodgers has got a segment of his music that is even more 5-star than Frank Sinatra.
Savoir faire, Sao Paulo and 10 others.
Then it is also interesting that Sinatra has caught sight of this "Supersinatra" (Nile Rodgers).
This cooperation would have been ultra original.
And then from the other side of the Nile, so to speak, there has also been an approach.
The most explosive guitarist in the world has apparently approached Nile Rodgers asking for a cooperation
and has also been turned down.
Listen to the intro to Speed King, version 1970, (Deep Purple in rock), this sequence is setting the standard for how hard and how explosive guitars can be played. Heavy-rock never came up with any better try, but Richie Blackmore has caught sight of Nile Boom Rodgers, who was playing equally powerfully in another music-dimension (this funky one).
They both only made these explosions in less than 1/100 of the time, but they were both the worlds best when they hit it.
But Nile neither caught sight of Sinatra
who was approaching Nile in a very very serious intention with the "silent" ultra romantic world-elite-music which was part of Nile Rodgers production, OR of Richie Blackmore who approached the explosive Nile Rodgers for a cooperation that would have changed music-history for good.

what do Ritchie Blackmore and Frank Sinatra and Five Star hotels have to do with this forum????
***********************************
Richie Blackmore-
because he has approached Nile for a cooperation
Frank Sinatra-
for the same reason
Five Star hotels-
because that was how I found out (a long time ago) that there is a link between Nile and Sinatra, and that Nile has an aspect of his production where he actually trumps Sinatra.
You can also count on that if that cooperation had become real, the music that had come out of that cooperation would be played RIGHT NOW on many five-star hotel bars and lobbies on all continents of the world!
