- "The catalyst for It’s About Time was a box of demos and outtakes that was found in 2011. After I listened to it all, which took months, I realised that I’d be stupid not to use [the material] in some form. It was a starting signal to work more intensely on the album idea".
- "The studio we recorded at for years changed owners many times, and a lot of [recordings] ended up in basements, garages and attics. The current owners – a Japanese firm – found this box when they were clearing things out, and they didn’t want to be responsible for it because they had nothing to do with the recordings. So they returned it to WARNER BROTHERS, where someone filed it under CHIC, but didn’t check the content; that only happened when they finally digitised the analogue tapes in the archive. There’s enough unreleased material there to see me to the end of my days".
- "We were incredibly creative and productive back then. We were on fire – that wasn’t all we were on – so now I can keep the spiritual message of the original CHIC line-up going for as long as I want. Of that line-up, only LUCI [MARTIN] and ALFA [ANDERSON] are left, but they don’t tour any more
